That's a surprise, I cant see ntl.* on news.ntlworld.com but it
still seems to be on aioe,
am I all alone or ,,,,

Quite a few people are "here" but as they post using ntl, you won't see them
as the posts don't get out. It shouldn't be on aioe.
On NIN as well, same problem.

Having trouble with ntl news servers? Lots of us have been.

yes, recently both text.news.ntlworld.com
and news.ntlworld.com vanished.
news.- reappeared fairly soon
but text.news.- still had not rematerialised last time I checked.

However, my probs with ntl.talk (ntl.*) go back long time prior to that,
I gave up a year or more ago !
then this evening I decided to have another go at finding them
I have refreshed my groups when online(dialup, freedom) to ntl at
news.ntlworld.com
in both FreeAgent and 40tudeDialog, all to no avail :(

I can get all the usual (external) groups like uk.* alt.* comp.* etc no
prob. (even some, not all, of the free.uk.* as well )

So I am at a loss (and now much confusled to find it on aioe but not on
news.ntletc) !

Time for a drink m'thinks !

Hmmm, strike that ! subs. "several years ago" !!

Thinking about it my probs with ntl.* via NTLfreedom(offnet) may be due to
them going in league with Virgin.net :(

It's just news.ntlworld.com now, they did away with the text only one.

That points at 2 IPs and one is ok, the other hasn't worked for a week.
The one that is ok is 62.253.170.163 so you could try setting up to specify
that.

Can you see any of the ntl groups? There aren't as many as there used to
be, just 15 now.

There was a short time when the groups weren't restricted, and at that time
they got onto other servers. Then they got closed again, but the other
servers still have them. Why you can't get them just now is a mystery!

know anything about ntl freedom, I'm on net, on BB.

There maybe someone around who does know. Just need to post through aoie,
or NIN possibly, for you to be able to see it.

Thank you, just set up a new 40tude account pointing at that and it
downloaded 29,227 groups but no ntl.* ones :(
it did get virgin.chat amongst others and all the usual suspects but not a
single ntl.*
this is wierd, makes me think that I may have got an "anything except ntl"
filter in there somehow ! but not in FreeAgent as well, and in desperation
I've just done it all again in OutlookExpress ( yup, thats how bad it's
getting to me !! ), same thing - no ntl groups.

Yes, I remember in 'olden times' that they escaped onto Google as well,
which caused some consternation !

hmmm, yes, all very strange, perhaps I need to polish up my telepathy a bit
, oh well, good to know you are all still around, perhaps tomorrow will
bring me an inspiration.

PS. two goes with customer support and one with tech support didnt help,
one of the customer support thought nobody used usenet newsgroups anymore
and so it wasnt something supported by the desk ! :(
