Tomorrow night at 20.52 BST.
If the skies are clear we'll see it here in the UK pass over about 20
minutes later. Also the external tank will be visible trailing the
Shuttle!!!

This is an opportunity to see an incredible sight.
I'll post exact timings when I get them.

Obviously different places in the UK will have slightly different timings.

No need for binoculars. It'll be a naked eye object and coming out of the
west at around 21.10.

According to my GNU Weather Report Applet, which is usually pretty
accurate, the weather for Luton(nearest to me) tomorrow is...:

Wednesday
Early mist and low cloud then sunny spells. Becoming hot with risk of
isolated thunderstorms later. Maximum temperature 29 deg C (84 deg F).

I wonder what height it will be at and how big it will look as it passes
over? The orbit is 122 nautical miles high, so if it's reached that
height by the time it passes, I guess it will just look like two
brightish(?) stars.

Heh heh, I remember my dad taking me out to see Sputnik 1 in 1957(I think
it was the booster we could see, not the actual satellite). We listened to
the 'beep beep', direct, on the radio too!

Two brightish stars is a pretty good analogy.

You're a lucky guy to have a father who did that for you.
That memory as stayed with you, I wish more people would realise how
inspiring science can be.

That in itself, moving at the speed they will be, will be unusual :)

Not applicable, its a linux taskbar app that tells me this about itself:

The Weather Report applet downloads weather information from the U.S
National Weather Service (NWS) servers, including the Interactive Weather
Information Network (IWIN). You can use Weather Report to display current
weather information and weather forecasts on your computer.

Indeed, 17,000 mph! I think I'll use a tripod and just leave the shutter
open to try and capture the track until just before the zenith and then
try to get a decent single shot straight upwards. There's a good spot
nearby with a clear view to the west horizon.

Yes, and there was a good comet around about the same time, but I can't
remember the name. A quick search suggests either Arend-Roland or Mrkos.
It was quite big and plainly visible to the naked eye. Really impressive
through binoculars.

Best one of those recently was Hiyakutake. I just googled that to make
sure I spelt it right. Seems I did ;)

A good place to start would be http://www.heavens-above.com
That is one great site, although they probably won't have the Shuttle times
just yet.

Another would be http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/
Click on SkyWatch 1.4, very impressive.

This is an opportunity to see an incredible sight. I'll post exact timings
when I get them.
Obviously different places in the UK will have slightly different timings.
Launch scrubbed :-(

Discovery. We've just looked out the window and we can confirm you are
